Artists Biography

Gwen de Silva began her art career at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She
received her B.F.A. at the University of Denver. While teaching in the Colorado public
schools she did graduate study at Colorado State College. Later she attended Scripps
graduate school in Claremont, CA.. After moving to the Atlanta, GA. area she studied
at the Art Institute of Atlanta. In the 80’s Silva traveled in South America and Mexico.
In 1985 she was offered the opportunity to live and study in Barcelona, Spain.

Returning to Atlanta in 1995 she currently is painting and teaches private oil
painting classes.

Her paintings and Monoprints are in private and corporate collections in the U.S.A.,
Europe and S. America.

She has received local, national, and international awards for her paintings, exhibiting
in many collective and solo exhibits.
